HCMC calls for voluntary safe blood donation

Leaders of Blood Donation Center said that it has targeted to collect 40,000 units of blood for the period after and before Tet holidays when the demand of blood increased due to surge of traffic accident.


The Red Cross Society in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3 January 4 in collaboration with Labor Union and People’s Committee of ward 5 organized Xuan Hong volunteer blood donor festival.


Around 300 employees and residents agreed to give voluntary blood donation at the festival. The first blood donation of the year in District 3 aimed to collect blood from voluntary safe blood donors for emergency and treatment on medical clinics in HCMC.


On the same day, the Red Cross Society in cooperation with Vocational School, Transport College, people’s committees in wards 1, 6 of District 3, Bui Phat Parish, Ear-Nose-Throat Hospital encouraged people to give their blood to save lives. Subsequently, the campaign has collected more than 800 units of blood from 600 volunteers.


Last year, the Red Cross Society in District 3 had called for the blood donation from local people; as a result, it collected more than 6,000 units of blood from 4,442 participants.
