In the morning of February 5th (the 6th of Tet), thousands of inhabitants in Cung Son townlet (Son Hoa district) and those from adjacent communes converged in Bun stream region to watch and support the 2014 Giap Ngo Dragon Boat racing festival.
This year boat racing festival attracted the participation of more than 100 athletes from 4 coastal communes and townlets, including Krong Pa, Trai stream and Cung Son townlet, divided into 8 teams competing in the contents of dragon boat racing, single male and single female boat, freestyle male swimming. The first prize was awarded to Dong Hoa quarter team (Cung Son townlet), the second prize to Mac Ham hamlet’s team (Son Ha commune), the third prize to Tinh Son quarter team. The first prizes for single male and single female boat race were awarded to athletes Nguyen Van Hai, Truong Thi Ha (Cung Son townlet), athlete Nguyen Thanh Binh (Cung Son townlet) won the first prize for single male swimming. Besides, the organizing board awarded the first, second and third and consolidation prizes to the athletes winning high prizes in other competing contents.

* On the same day, on Tam Giang river (Song Cau town), thousands of people from many corners gathered to watch such sports activities as dragon boat racing, coracle shaking contest, swimming, hand wrestling, sail pole climbing, catching ducks in the river, the contest “Coconut region charm”. These are the activities in Tam Giang water festivals that are annually organized by Song Cau town. Previously, in the morning of February 4th (the 5th of Tet), Song Cau town organized such spring activities as boating on Xuan Dai bay and the 6th competition “good net weavers”.
* At the central lake of Hai Rieng townlet, the people’s committee of Song Hinh district organized the 16th traditional boat racing contest. Over 200 athletes from 14 units participated in the contest, with the contents of freestyle swimming, duo boat racing and 12-man dragon boat racing. The result is Song Hinh district won the first prize in the dragon boat racing item, Duc Binh Dong commune won the second prize in the two-man boat racing item, Son Giang commune the first prize in the single boat racing, athlete Hoang Vinh Thang (Duc Binh Dong) win the first prize in the freestyle swimming content.
* Previously, in Bau Sen region, South of La Hai townlet (Dong Xuan district), the net coracle contests were held in the river. 11 units in Dong Xuan district enters the event, including Phu Mo, Xuan Son Bac, Xuan Son Nam, Xuan Quang, Xuan Phuoc, Xuan Long, Xuan Quang 2, Xuan Quang 3, The Division of education and training, the factory of producing starch in La Hai townlet.
