Over 100 police from the Department of Criminal Investigation in Social Order (PC45) in HCM City conducted a surprise raid at two bars in the city.
At around 1am on February 19, the District 1 Police raided 39 Kumho Bar on Le Duan Street and New Saigon on Cong Truong Me Linh Street.
At the New Saigon, they discovered a bag of drugs, and one of the patrons appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. New Saigon does not have permit to sell alcohol.
Police inspect New Saigon Bar New Saigon Bar, which belongs to New Saigon Even Organisations JSC, was registered for food service, advertisement and tourism, but operated as a bar instead.
Even though this bar got a number of police visits last year, it went on operating and became a large night attraction in HCM City.
39 Kumho Bar Meanwhile, the police also discovered various other violations at 39 Kumho Bar Club, such as unregistered employees and copyright infringement of audio and video files, advertising in foreign languages and remaining open after hours.
One customer was found with drug and a knife.
