Meanwhile, the Saigon-Thai Binh Duong Beer Team has also refused to take on the members of the team and a representative of Saigon-Thai Binh Duong said that they may even be dissolved.

According to a new source, both VietsovPetro and Saigon-Thai Binh Duong teams are not satisfied with the current situation, and there was an open letter written by a member of VietsovPetro on her Facebook page pleading for help. After the merger between VietsovPetro and Sai Gon-Thai Binh Duong the women’s pay has been cut and, despite promises that the policies of their former contract would be honoured, they are uncertain about their future.

The technical director of Saigon-Thai Binh Duong, Tran Minh Khang, said, “We have been aware of the situation of the team members, but the letter sent by the team is not completely accurate. When deciding the terms of the merger, we consulted the team members and accepted all their requirements which were all recorded in a memorandum of understanding. But they are now unwilling to join our team,” Khang added.

According to Khang, under the memorandum of understanding, after joining his team, the lower paid players would have made VND3 million (USD142.8) per month instead of VND900,000 (USD42.8), and key players, such as Giang wouuld have made VND20 million (USD952.3) instead of the former VND16 million (USD761.9) they earned at VietsovPetro.

Khang said it was the members who refused to join the new team under the new conditions, and that the head of Saigon-Thai Binh Duong does not want to spend more time negotiating. “We have had four rounds of negotiations with them in an attempt to understand what it is they wanted. I think that’s enough.”

He added that the managers of Saigon-Thai Binh Duong are disappointed with the behaviour of the members of VietsovPetro. “We have invested a lot in this merger, but they have too many demands and have disseminated false information which has affected our image. The situation is unfortunate,” Khang said.
