Launched in 1993, the program helped dramatically improve the cultural lives of people in border areas through culture, information, sports and tourism activities.

Over the past years, border units have actively built cultural houses, helped local people develop their household economies, provided education and good healthcare for local people, and mobilized locals to overcome backward customs.

In the 2014-2020 program, these units will promote cultural activities for ethnic minority people and units in border areas and on islands, making contributions to raising their cultural lives, and building a borderline of peace and friendship.

Besides, culture, sports and tourism programs will be also organized to help people be aware of national sovereignty and learn more about the cultures of ethnic minority groups. More bookshelves will be built for people and troops in border areas and on islands.

Furthermore, the organizers will promote culture and sports exchanges with border protection forces and people of neighbouring countries.
