Da Nang: Action plan for low-carbon industrial parks
In collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang and the Asia Foundation, the Institute for Industry Policy and Strategy (IFS) held the Workshop on Establishment of action plan framework for low-carbon industrial parks, pilot study in Da Nang.
The project “Model of support for Vietnamese enterprises towards low-carbon-oriented development – pilot study in Da Nang” is funded by the United Kingdom Foreign Secretary with the total cost of nearly 900 million VND for the period 2013 – 2014. The next stage of the project will be conducted in 2014 – 2015 period.
The project aims to establish framework of action plan supporting enterprises of Da Nang Seafood Service Industrial park and Lien Chieu Industrial park to develop towards low-carbon-oriented business. After completion, the project will assist local administration agencies and enterprises in greenhouse gas management, thus ensuring to meet environmental, economic and social target.
At the workshop, IFS experts proposed that greenhouse gas emission cut by 15 percent by 2017.
The project is part of Da Nang socio-economic development master planning by 2020 of the Prime Minister under the Decision No. 1866/QĐ-TTg dated October 8, 2010. People’s Committee of Da Nang city’s goal is that the period of 2016 – 2020 witnesses Da Nang city become the environmental city in 2020.
