Nearly 30 shells were deactivated in the central province of Quang Tri on March 5 after they had been discovered during an earlier site clearance.

The provincial Mines Advisory Group said this include 25 155-mm, 130-mm, 105-mm and mortar shells, along with a number of rounds of ammunition.

The scene was once a scrap iron area where locals had many times discovered explosives and reported to authorities.
