On the morning of 24th February, 2014, a Lao NA Committee for Cultural and Social Affairs delegation, led by its head Honorable Professor Doctor Phonethep Pholsena paid a working visit to Haiphong city to exchange experience in supervision task and give recommendations to socio-cultural issues of the locality. Standing Deputy Secretary of Haiphong’s Party Committee cum Head of Haiphong National Assembly delegation Nguyen Thi Nghia received and worked with the foreign delegation.
At the working session, Standing Deputy Secretary Nguyen Thi Nghia affirmed that this is an opportunity for Haiphong to introduce the city, share and learn working practices from one other, contributing to tightening the traditional relations between Vietnam and Laos in general and between Haiphong and Laos in particular. Hai Phong City now has relationships with two provinces from Laos, namely Vientiane and Oudomxay. The two sides have actively cooperated and exchanged working delegations in the fields of education, agriculture, culture, sports, transportation as well as built up closer and deeper ties.
Members of the delegation of the Lao National Assembly Committee for Cultural and Social Affairs discussed and exchanged information about verifying and monitoring activities and simultaneously consulted about draft laws as well as resolutions of the National Assembly, and the municipal people’s council model.
President of the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee of the Lao’s National Assembly Phonethep Phonlsena thanked for the warm reception of Haiphong and also delighted at the economic, cultural and social achievements, especially tourism sector obtained by the city over the past time. Also, he thanked the friendly cooperation between Hai Phong city and two provinces of Vientiane and Oudomxay and re-confirmed the close-knitted affinity between the two countries of Laos and Vietnam over the past years, which has contributed to nurturing and developing the traditional relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides.
