A 4,500 ton Desalination Evaporator – fabricated by Water Shop of Doosan Vina in Dung Quat Economic Zone – is being shipped to Saudi Arabia.
It is the first of four desalination plants built by Doosan Vina for Saudi Arabia under a $1.47 billion contract signed in March 2013 – known as the Yanbu phase 3.
Threeother evaporators in the Yanbu 3 project are currentlybeing assembledand the second is expected to ship on June 21st, 2014.
Each of the units is the size of a football pitch and a five-store building, with a producing capacity of 95 million liters of fresh water per day.
The unit shipped today when combined with its three sister units that will follow in the coming months will produce enough water to meet the daily needs of more than a million people in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
After leavingthe DoosanVina’s port, theevaporator will be at sea for 25 days to reach its final destination inSaudi Arabia.
This isthe fifth desalination plantthatWater shop has completed since starting its productionin 2009.
