Ho Chi Minh City-based designer Vo Viet Chung said he will contribute his Miss Saigon collection made completely manually in one year by 20 artisans.
Chung and another ao dai designer, Duc Hung, from Hanoi are joined by overseas Vietnamese designers.
Their dresses will be paraded with drum performances, besides other outdoor activities like a dragon dance, poem reading, and ancestors worshiping rituals.
The festival’s guests include Vanessa Vo, a California-based Vietnamese musician best known for her work on Vietnamese 16-stringed zither dan tranh.
She co-composed and recorded the 2009 Emmy Award-winning soundtrack for Bolinao 52, a documentary by Vietnamese American director Duc Nguyen about a Vietnamese boat stranded in the Pacific due to storms and engine failures, and rescued by Filipino fishermen after 37 days to Bolinao Island, when only 52 of the 110 survived.
