In their notices released yesterday, fuel trading enterprises announced to cut cooking gas prices to around VND380,000-390,000 per 12-kilo cylinder, down by VND16,000 against early last month. Prices of a 45-kilo cylinder and a 50-kilo cylinder will be VND1.45 million and VND1.61 million respectively.

Explaining the price cut, the wholesalers said that Saudi Aramco Company had cut its contract price for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for April to US$807.5 per ton, down by US$55 against the previous month.

Domestic gas retail price has declined for the fourth consecutive month, sending the price of a 12-kilo cylinder down by over VND100,000.

Prices of diesel oil, kerosene and heavy fuel oil declined by VND240 per liter, VND150 per liter and VND130 per kg to VND22,600, VND22,480 and VND18,460 respectively. Meanwhile, prices of gasoline remained unchanged at VND24,690 per liter.

The price change took effect from midnight yesterday following a proposal by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance to allow traders to adjust down prices.

The document issued last night clarifies enterprises are getting VND200 instead of VND300 from the price stabilization fund for each liter of gasoline sold.

The adjustments came less than two weeks after fuel trading companies increased prices of gasoline and diesel oil by VND180 and VND70 per liter to all-time highs of VND24,690 and VND22,840 per liter, respectively.
