(CPV) – On April 18, the Central Economic Committee, in association with the Ho Chi Minh city Stock Exchange (HOSE) and Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), organised a conference dicussing the role of capital market in restructuring the economy in Quy Nhon city, the central province of Binh Dinh.
The conference was attended by central and local leaders, policy makers, economists, international organizations, leaders of large enterprises, securities companies, fund managers, commercial banks in Vietnam.
Chairing the conference, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, Head of the Central Economic Committee stressed the key tasks of Vietnam for the time being the economic restructure associated with the paradigm shift toward effective growth and competitiveness in the 2013-2020 period of 2013-2020.
He tressed that in such process, the role of capital market impacting the restructure of state-owned enterprises, commercial banking system and financial institutions was a vital and inseparable part.
Issues related to the role of capital market in the economy and restructuring securities companies and fund management companies in the process of restructuring the financial market were discussed by the attendants. In addition, the conference focused on restructuring of commercial banks and the role of commercial banks in building a modern capital market; and the equitization of state-owned enterprises .
The attendants were much interested in and contributed discussions on solutions to strengthen supervision and enforcement in order to develop a healthy financial market, role of stock market in improving corporate governance and transparency in the economy and measures taken to mobilize foreign resources (FII) and national resources in the economy through the stock market.
The conference provided an opportunity to exchange practical experiences and solutions from all stakeholders. It would not only help the government agencies and policy makers have multi-dimensional perspective to make proper guidelines for the economic development of Vietnam, but also drive the capital market participants to have more accurate decisions for their activities./.
