100 scholarships and books were given to poor students at an education development festival themed “Renovation-Integration-Development” in Thong Nhat (Reunification) Hall on April 22.
The festival was jointly held by the Department of Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh City and Ngoi Nha Xanh (Greenhouse) Culture Company. The Education Publishing House gave needy but good students each scholarship wroth VND1 million (US$ 47.5).
The publishing house also supplied books to 12 libraries in disadvantaged districts in HCMC and southern provinces. In addition, the publishing house sent VND50 million (US$ 2,375) to support Truong Sa island support program.
Total amount for the social program is VND450 million (US$ 21,348).
At the festival, 150 booths were displaying textbooks, educational equipments, teaching software, advanced school models, vocation consultation and overseas studying.
Moreover there were many seminars on education renovations, teachers’ quality-raising solution and teachers’ foreign language skills raising solution, emotionally intelligent school models.
Meetings with winners of international contests including Intel Isef, Math Olympiad , Robotics and experts in various fields were taking place at the event.
