Gov’t issues monthly resolution

VGP – The Government tasked the State Bank of Viet Nam to follow this year’s credit growth plan and take measures to expand businesses’ credit access, according to its newly-issued resolution.

The central bank was also urged to fruitfully realize the project on restructuring credit organizations in the 2011-2015 period while accelerating the settlement of non-performing loans by promoting the role of the Viet Nam Asset Management Company.



The Ministry of Planning and Investment is responsible for coordinating with other ministries, agencies and localities to arrange enough corresponding capital for ODA projects.


Combating measles


The Ministry of Health must work with other ministries and localities to speed up measles vaccinations and apply more measures to contain the outbreak of measles.


Communication programs must be further enhanced to improve the public’s awareness.


The outbreak of measles over the past months has claimed 25, mostly under-ten-year-old children, statistics showed.


Cracking down on overloaded vehicles


The Government asked the Ministry of Transport to collaborate with the Ministry of Public Security and localities to supervise and crack down on overloaded vehicles which are blamed for damaging roads and threatening traffic safety.


Earlier this year, the Prime Minister asked ministries to curb overloaded trucks and late last month, another similar order was made to ministries to conduct more inspections to detect and punish violators.


However, according to the Ministry of Transport, the number of overloaded trucks on road across the country is increasing in a more complicated way. Nearly half of the total trucks checked were found to carry more goods than allowed.


For successful Vesak 2014


The United Nations Day of Vesak 2014 celebrations will be held in bai Dinh Temple in the Northern province of Ninh Binh on May 7-11.


The Government tasked relevant agencies and Ninh Binh province to prepare well for a safe and success event.


Buddhism has been practiced in Viet Nam for over 2,000 years. The country has more than 12 million Buddhist followers, over 40,000 monks and nuns and almost 15,000 temples, monasteries and other places of worship./.
