(VOV) -Another measles-linked death was reported at the National Hospital of Paediatrics on May 3, bringing the fatalities from measles and its complications to 25 out of 133 severe cases so far this year.

The Ministry of Public Health’s Preventive Health Department said that that as of May 3, cumulatively 52 cases in the country have been diagnosed with measles. Of which, 30 patients are currently being treated at the National Hospital of Paediatrics, 5 cases at Hanoi’s Bach Mai Hospital, and 17 cases at the National Hospital ofTropical Diseases.
The ministry also reported that no new measles cases have arisen in 26 provinces and cities on the same day.
So far, the country has recorded 3,982 incidences of the disease.
The rate of measles immunization coverage across the country has reached 85.2 % as of May 3, up 0.1% from the previous day.
Eighteen provinces and cities having vaccination rates higher than 95% include Quang Nam, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Khanh Hoa,Thai Binh, Kien Giang, Phu Yen, Kon Tum, Can Tho, Dak Nong, Phu Tho, Hai Duong, Ca Mau, Ninh Binh , Hau Giang and Haiphong.
The Ministry has asked medical services to continue carrying out vaccination campaigns across the country, especially in localities with low number of vaccinated people.
