In the past years, the departments, sectors, levels and social organizations have made efforts to color the multi-color, lively pictures for the province’s sports; provoking the awareness of sports training among the citizens.

Beginning in June 2013 and ending in December 2013, the sports festival at the levels of communes, wards and town lets occurred in effervescent atmosphere. On average, each commune, ward attracts the participation of 250 athletes and more than 1,000 spectators. Those working as organizers made efforts to seek funds for organizing 5 competing contents. Compared with the previous festival, this is one outstanding feature that those working for mass sports in Phu Yen can take pride in. From that success, the sports festival at district level can be enhanced in both quantity and quality of competition. On average, each unit organizes 9 items, heading towards each locality’s strength, developing the characteristics of regional sports. From the 5th sports festival in 2010 to the 6th one in 2014 is the period of witnessing the renovation as well as development of the public sports movements. Apart from familiar sports like cross-country running, vovinam, volleyball and tennis…and such traditional martial arts as vovinam, taekwondo, Phu Yen sports sector also acknowledge new breezes from such items as badminton and particularly bike-riding.



2013 was the first year that Phu Yen department of culture-sports-tourism coordinated with Phu Yen association of motors-bicycles, VTV Phu Yen organized the tournament of Bike riding-Phu Yen open, attracting hundreds of either professional or amateur athletes from various bike riding clubs nationwide gathering in Tuy Hoa city to compete. Therefore, apart from the annually-held Phu Yen Newspaper cross-country running prize, VTV Phu Yen Bike riding cup is the second national level contest held by Phu Yen partners in coordination with other organizations and offices.


The acknowledged new feature is the material foundations in localities has been considerably improved. Apart from the sports works managed by the state, in Tuy Hoa city, there have been some artificial football yards, contributing to creating very healthy playgrounds for the local youth.


Currently, in some districts, there are also some immense sports works. Song Hinh district has the swimming pool in Hai Rieng townlet and tennis court. Son Hoa district has one multi-function stadium, the artificial grass yards. The sports movements in Tay Hoa district is developing more and more after the multi-function stadium has been in operation. Meanwhile, in the direction of socialization, Dong Xuan district sports is developing both intensively and extensively among the mass public.
