The new strategy is a guideline for Japan’s defense industry for the coming decade
(VOVworld) – Japan’s Defense Ministry Thursday adopted a new defense industry development strategy calling for proactive participation of Japanese firms in international joint development of defense equipment including fighter aircraft. At the ministry’s meeting in Tokyo, Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera underscored the importance of expanding Japan’s technology base to keep from falling behind the rest of the world, calling it a guideline for Japan’s defense industry for the coming decade. The new strategy clearly states that military equipment is a tool for contributing to regional and global peace and stability.
