The Bong Bridge over Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe Canal is nearly 85m long and 21m wide while the Hau Giang Bridge crossing Tan Hoa – Lo Gom Canal measures 72m long and 26m wide.

The two new bridges are part of a project to build four bridges in the southern hub, including the Bong Bridge, the Hau Giang Bridge, the Kieu Bridge connecting Phu Nhuan District and District 1, and the Le Van Si Bridge in District 3.

The four bridges are built at an estimated cost of US$40 million, with loans from the World Bank. They are scheduled for completion in October 2014. If the city authorities fail to meet the deadline, the World Bank will suspend the loans.

Previously, in late April, the new 60-meter-long, 19-meter-wide Le Van Si Bridge over Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal was completed after five months of construction – two months ahead of schedule.
