(VOV) -Vietnamese representatives joined a plethora of nearly 100 delegates from 50 countries at World Press Conference 2014, taking place in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, from June 15-20.

The event called on media agencies worldwide to strengthen cooperation and share information in the wake of the rising number of regional and global challenges.

Participants discussed a disparate and complex array of issues ranging from nuclear energy and multilateral negotiations to the escalating tensions in the Korean Peninsula.

They shared views on media agencies’ ethical roles and responsibilities in reporting conflicts and disasters, as well as the developmental trend in an environment of social media boom.

Many delegates stressed the need to establish a media network to deal with emerging issues such as natural disasters, serious accidents, and conflicts among countries or groups.

Lieutenant-General Le Phuc Nguyen, editor-in-chief of Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) newspaper, said the conference provided objective opinions and raised media agencies’ responsibilities for reporting on global issues, such as the ongoing territorial dispute in the East Sea.
