All six fishermen are residents of Pho Thanh Commune, Duc Pho District, Quang Ngai Province.

The delegation gave presents worth VND11 million each to the relatives; and an extra VND11 million to the family of Vo Dat, owner of the fishing boat QNg – 94912 TS that was illegally seized by China on July 3.

Dat’s son Vo Tan Teo was captaining the boat fishing in Vietnamese waters in the Gulf of Tonkin when he and five crew members were arrested and the boat seized. Mr. Dat and relatives of the five crew members are very worried, not having received any information about the boat and the detained fishermen.

Nguyen Huynh Dinh, Deputy Chairman of the Binh Duong Fatherland Front, said the delegation also handed over VND3.9 billion to cadres and soldiers of the Coast Guard Zone 2.

Earlier, on July 10, on Quang Ngai province’s Ly Son Island, representatives from the Ministry of Transport handed over VND1 billion worth of equipment to fishermen to facilitate offshore fishing in their traditional fishing grounds, contributing to maintaining the nation’s sovereignty over its seas and islands./.
