HANOI (VNS) – Defending champion Nguyen Tien Minh beat Chia-Hsin Wan of Chinese Taipei in straight sets in the third round of the Yonex Suffolk County Community College US Open Championships yesterday.
The world No 17 needed just 28 minutes to complete a clinical demolition of the World No 84, 21-13, 21-7.
Minh, who is the top seed here, will meet ninth seed Suppanyu Avihingsanon of Thailand in the next round.
All other Vietnamese players were, however, ousted from the event.
The US$120,000 event will end tomorrow. – VNS
