The most serious flood occurred in Quang Ngai last year



​Quang Ngai provincial People’s Committee (PPC) has just issued directions to districts and city to work out plans of dealing with storms in the upcoming rainy season.



Last year, the 14th storm namely Haiyan – the world’s most destroyed storm – hit the East Sea with the wind speed of over 250 km per hour. The storm left experience that the most important work in dealing with such a huge storm is to remove residents living in areas under high risks of flood attacked.


Reportedly, in 2013 the historical flood left at least 25 dead tolls, 167 people injured and the total loss was calculated for nearly 2 trillion VND, which cover about 6.5 percent of provincial GDP.


The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is to introduce localities to make detailed action plans of moving residents to safer shelters; to check seaside dykes and infrastructure systems; to expand areas of docks; and to complete map of flooded areas in rivers and sea mouths.


Provincial Military Headquarter is to co-ordinate with Provincial Border Defense Force to prepare plans of rescue.


Districts and City are requested to map flooded areas in localities, especially in areas of large rivers; to update the new development of natural disasters in localities; to prepare detailed and effective plans of evacuation; and to count the number of safe and unsafe houses and those are in low-lying areas, seaside, riverside for Department of Construction; and frequently provide guidelines for residents.
