The national CPI has risen up 4.61% in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year and 3.62% versus last September, according to the latest calculations of the office.
Eight of 11 groups of items used to calculate the CPI have marked up whereas two others have decreased in prices. Meanwhile, prices of only one group have remained unchanged.
The highest price rise of 6.38% recorded for the education group is ascribed to the rising tuition fees at educational institutions across the country at the beginning of the new school year 2014-2015.
The seven remaining groups with slight prices increases are apparel-hat-footwear which rise by 0.32%, pharmaceuticals-healthcare services by 0.23%, catering services by 0.22%, household appliances by 0.21%, culture-entertainment-tourism by 0.09%, beverages-tobacco 0.08% and other goods and services by 0.212%.
The two groups of commodities with price declines this month are housing-building materials and transport with respective drops of 0.38% and 1.85%.
Only the post-telecom group has had its prices unchanged.
Contrary to the nation’s advancing CPI, the gold price and the U.S. dollar exchange rate indexes in the country this month are down by 1.66% and 0.15% respectively.
