With more than 10 members in the list of annual blood donation, the 3 members of the Live blood bank of Tuy Hoa city Red Cross and many other youth members are always ready to donate blood in the campaigns, voluntary blood donation teams of ward 2 (Tuy Hoa city) are sharing their lives to help reinvigorate many other lives.
Ward 2 is one of the typical units in the task of humane voluntary blood donation of Tuy Hoa city. Annually, the ward participates in 2 sessions, one at the beginning and the other at the end of the year. Each time, the ward has from 15 to 17 people join. Currently, ward 2′s voluntary blood donation team has more than 10 people giving periodical blood donation, 3 people belong to Tuy Hoa city’s live blood bank. These great men are 24 hours available to help patients with emergency and many other youth members also register for voluntary blood donation periodically.
Donating blood is one way of practically sharing by ward 2′s Red Cross, contributing to monitor, timely supply blood for treatments at the provincial general hospital, as well as other localities in terms of participating. The ward’s Red Cross has made many realistic activities including propaganda towards more people to better understand the meaning of humane blood donation.
This July, ward 2 had 13 people participate in the blood donation in the program “Red Journey-connecting Viet blood”, chaired by the central Hematology-Blood Transmission (health Ministry). At this session, ward 2 donated 1.2 units of blood (350ml of blood). Mrs. Tran Thi My Diep, chairwoman of ward 2′s Red Cross, said, “Blood is life, so it’s necessary to have blood reserve to rescue people. Due to that significance, we have established the voluntary blood donation team to supply blood in need”.
Chairwoman of ward 2′s Red Cross, Mrs. Tran Thi My Diep is one of the most active and best role models in the movement of donating blood to save human, even though she’s not young nay more. In 2013, Phu Yen pediatrics and obstetrics hospital received one child patient at emergency section but there was no blood, and there was no blood reserve then, so the Hospital contacted ward 2′sRed Cross to fetch blood for rescuing the child. Mrs. Diep did not hesitate donating her precious blood. She shared, “When donating blood periodically, there is car to pick up, but in case of urgency, I go to and back by myself. Luckily, I did not feel dizzy, so I safely arrived home”.
Pham Dinh Huy, one of the 3 members of the live blood bank group, let known, “I am still young and healthy, so I can extract part of blood to save other people. Let’s put ourselves in the situation of those in need, I feel a greater motivation to donate blood”.
According to Mrs. Tran Thi My Diep, all members in the blood donating team voluntarily participate because the amount of 200,000 dongs/each donating session can never compensate the donated blood. However, with the thought “one blood given, one life stays“, lots of people are silently doing this job”.
