HA NOI (VNS) – The undersea international cable AAG (Asia Pacific Gateway) that connects Viet Nam to the Internet with other countries has been fixed one day earlier than scheduled, according to the AAG operating unit.

The cable operator said welding started at 11.15pm on October 1 and was completed at 7.45am on October 2. International channels have been completely restored.

On September 15, the AAG cable had broken at a site 64km from Hong Kong. This affected Internet services in Viet Nam, especially connections with other countries.

On September 30, the second break was reported 68 km from the Hong Kong mainland station. The AAG is a 20,000-kilometre long submarine communications cable system connecting Southeast Asia with the US mainland, across the Pacific Ocean via Guam and Hawaii. – VNS
