Mekong Delta mills pay less for sugarcane

Sugar plants in the Mekong Delta have cut sugarcane purchase prices by VND50 per kilogramme due to large sugar inventories.

Phung Hiep sugar factory in Hau Giang Province, for instance, now pays VND830 per kilogramme.

Another reason for the price cut is that sugar smuggled in from Thailand sells at VND11,400 per kilogramme, VND800 lower than local products.
