The Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology is in fourth place on a list of 25 most attractive museums in Asia published by the world’s largest travel website TripAdvisor in its Travelers’ Choice awards.
The awards honour top spots in Asia based on reviews and opinions from travellers.
They are determined using a methodology that takes into account the quantity and quality of reviews gathered over a 12-month period.
According to the website, the museum is both a research centre and a public museum showcasing the country’s ethnic groups.
The mission of the museum is scientific research, collection, documentation, conservation, exhibition, and preserving the cultural and historic legacies of the country’s 54 ethnic groups.
The 17-year-old museum, which displays 10,000 objects and 15,000 photographs on an area of 3ha, has attracted 200,000 visitors this year, including 80,000 foreigners. – VNS
