Typhoon Sinlaku makes landfall

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center reported that the storm Sinlaku made landfall in Phu Yen, caused heavy rains on the large scale and strong wind speed yesterday.

Last night, the storm was located at 13, 4 north degree latitude and 109,3 east degree longitude in the territorial waters from Binh Dinh to Phu Yen.


The strongest wind near center reached at level 8-10, at around 10-15 kilometers an hour. After making the landfall, typhoon Sinlaku weakened into the tropical low pressure on Sunday.



Due to the influence of the storm, the territorial waters from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa experienced strong wind of level 6-7, and gusted up to level 8-10 near center, sea rough and 2-4 meters of big sea waves. The coastal regions from Binh Dinh to Phu Yen were affected by strong wind of level 6-7.


By 10am on Sunday, the pressure zone was centered at 13, 4 north degree latitude and 107, 0 east degree longitude in the area of Cambodia. The strongest wind decreased under level 6, estimated to 39 kilometers an hour by near center.


In addition, the south central and Central Highland province like Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Gai Lai province experienced heavy rains with the rainfall of 50-100 mm.


According to forecast weather, in the next 12- 24 hours, the pressure zone will move westward. And because of its circulation, the flood level will continue to raise rapidly and be alerted at level 1- 2 on the local rivers from Quang Ngai to Phu Yen and Gia Lai to Kon Tum which will cause landslide in mountain regions.


Later, a northeast monsoon will appear in the Northern provinces. Particularly, the strongest wind in Gulf of Tonkin will reach at level 7-9, sea rough.
