The General Department of Vietnam Customs said the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and India reached US$4.258 billion in the first nine months of 2014, an increase of US$324 million from the same period in 2013. Specifically, Vietnam earned US$1.766 billion from exports to India and spent US$2.492 billion on imports from the South Asian nation.
Telephone and parts are Vietnam’s biggest exports to India, fetching nearly US$617 million, followed by machines, equipment, tools and spare parts with US$174 million; computers, electronic products and components with nearly US$$ 116 million; and rubber with US$108 million.
Its key imports from India included seafood (US$280 million), machinery, equipment, tools and parts (more than US$ 238 million), cotton (US$$232 million) and pharmaceuticals (nearly US$200 million).
In 2013, the bilateral trade revenue totalled US$5.234 billion, of which, Vietnam earned US$2.353 billion and India took US$2.881 billion.
