Mrs. Truong Thi Bich Lien, Chairwoman of Son Hoi Communal People’s Committee, let known: the commune has had 1,197 households with 4,525 people, including 630 households with 1,974 people of ethnic minorities, mainly Cham H’roi, Ba Na, Ede …The commune has 8 villages and hamlets, including 4 particularly difficult villages. Every year, from the fund supporting the resettlement program 134, 135 … Son Hoi communal people can stabilize their housing and production development. Specifically, in 2014, 18 households in the villages of Tan Hop, Tan Thuan, Tan Hiep were assisted an amount of VND 288 million to reinforce housing, utilities, food… Also, each of the 45 poor households in the 8 villages was supported with a cow worth VND 10 million to develop production.


Not relying entirely on the State support for life stabilization, production development, many organizations, unions, associations in the commune have many ways to help people reduce poverty, typically, Son Hoi Communal Women’s Union. Mrs. Ho Ba Thi Tem, Chairwoman of the Communal Women’s Union, let known: The Union has 499 members, including 304 women of ethnic minority people. Recently, the Union has been responsible for 178 turns of women making unsecured loans of over VND 6 billion from the Social Policy Bank. Thanks to the funds, many families have been out of poverty. In addition, the Women Union deployed the models of Loving Rice Jar, piggy banks, which donated VND 47 million, more than 535kg of rice, 6 maces of gold to help the women in difficulties for household economic development.


“For agricultural production, the communal area of rice paddy has been maintained, the area of sugarcane and cassava has been expanded; and crossbred cows have been increased in number. An annual income for a person reached VND 15 million and the percentage of employed workers in the commune is 90%. In 2014, 171ha of rice, 378ha of cassava, 940ha of sugar cane and 1,586 cows were produced, bringing about significant revenue to local inhabitants”, Mrs. Lien added.


Besides boosting production, the technical infrastructure in Son Hoi commune has been invested. Tra Ke market and the rural roads from the communal center to the villages and hamlets were concreted. Mr. La Van Minh, Standing Deputy of the Management Board for building new rural areas in Son Hoi commune, let known: In 2014, the commune registered to concrete 6 roads with the total length of 4,8km; so far, more than 4.5 km has been completed. The work of Tra Ke market upgraded from the capital of the program 134 and 135 is now more spacious, meeting the purchasing needs.


Mr. Luong Van Lach, Head of Son Hoa commune’s Ethnicity Division, commented: The capital of the programs invested by the State has helped Son Hoi inhabitants gradually shift towards stability and development. Until now, the commune has reached 9 criteria out of 19 new rural criteria. In the coming time, the district continues to invest the capital for gradually perfecting the infrastructure, production development and poverty reduction.
