(VOV) – The opening ceremony of the first Thai ethnic cultural festival was held in the northern province of Lai Chau on December 27, featuring a stunning performance of the roots and legendary about Thai ethnic group.
It was attended by Le Hong Anh, Political Bureau member and standing member of Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, Ha Thi Khiet, Party Central Committee Secretary and head of the Party Commission for Mass Mobilisation, leaders of localtiies and high-level delegations from China and Laos.
This is the first time the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Lai Chau province to organize the festival themed “Preserving and promoting the Thai ethnic group’s cultural identity in Vietnam’s development and international integration”.
Do Ha Long, deputy director of Lai Chau provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized that the success of the festival is attributed to the Party and State leaders’ special attention and smooth coordination among local cultural departments.
Long underscored the importance of a strategic plan to develop, preserve and promote the indigenous culture of ethnic groups, especially ethnic minority groups in the time ahead.
The event will run through to December 29.
