So said Colonel Pham Van Ty, Deputy Head of the Rescue Department under the Ministry of National Defence during an online meeting on measures to cope with the typhoon, held on December 10th by the Central Steering Committee on Flood and Storm Prevention.

During the online meeting, Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, requested localities not to be negligent in coping with the typhoon, and to give priority in ensuring the safety for people’s lives.

Ministries and localities were told to keep contact with fishing vessels or instruct them how to safely shelter from the typhoon; make ready for the evacuation of people in coastal areas, labourers working in aquaculture cages and those in areas that face a high risk of encountering flood and landslides.

The minister noted that the typhoon could undergo unusual changes; therefore, localities should work out diverse ways of coping with the typhoon, and regularly inform people of the development of the typhoon, especially those on islands and foreign visitors.

Localities that had issued a ban of going fishing were asked to strictly prevent fishermen from going fishing during the time of the typhoon’s landfall.
