(VOV) – A conference on youth cooperation among Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia opened in Hanoi on December 8, attended by 60 young representatives from the three Southeast Asian nations.

Speaking at the conference, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Dac Vinh highlighted the time-honoured friendship among the three neighbouring countries as an invaluable asset, noting the new young generations’ most important tasks is to inherit and further develop the ties of traditional friendship nurtured by ancestors.

Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs Hoang Binh Quan described the conference as a practical activity contributing to education about the friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia to younger generations.

This offers a good opportunity for senior leaders of youth organizations to exchange working experiences, learn from each other about good cooperation models, Quan added.

Participants discussed measures to bolster youth cooperation and exchange experience in mobilizing young people to play a greater role in socio-economic development and voluntary community activities.

A wide array of activities including meetings, workshops and tours to historical sites and landscapes are planned to educate the young delegates on the traditional friendship and solidarity between people of the three nations.

Vilayvong Bouddakham, First Secretary of the Central Committee of Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union and President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) Hun Many said through the event running to December 12, young people from the three nations can exchange views on issues of shared concern and work out effective measures to foster cooperation between youth organizations.
