The Studying Encouragement Center, EQuest Foreign Language Institute and Viet America Teaching Center in Hanoi announced the English Champion 2015 on January 12 in Hanoi.
The competition is for students from grades fourth to eighth in primary and junior high school in there major cities including Ho Chi Minh city, Hanoi and the central city of Da Nang. No charge is required for the competition.
Registration should be made from January 12 to February 12, 2015. Students can register the competition by filling the form in their schools, in EQuest’s schools nationwide or online registration at http://ec.equest.edu.vn.
The form of the competition comprises three rounds. The first round is a multiple choice test to assess competitors’ reading and writing skills in 60 minutes for junior high school students and 45 minutes for primary pupils.
The second round is also a multiple choice reading and writing tests to check math and science knowledge of students in 90 minutes for junior high school students and 60 minutes for primary pupils. Each destination will choose one excellent student to enter the last round which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City. In the last round, student will deliver a speech in eight minutes.
Before the last round, students will be trained how to deliver a speech before the large crowd.
Organizers will cover all spending of competitors from Hanoi and Da Nang in the last round in Ho Chi Minh City.
The first prize winner will grasp VND10 million (US$469), the second prize of VND2 million (US$ 93.8) and the third of VND1 million (US$46.9). In addition, winners of the first, second and third will receive the US’s funded IvyPrep scholarship worth VND52 million.
