(VOV) – The Emilia-Romagna branch of the Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association (IVFA) made its debut on January 31 in Bologna City in northern Italy.
This is IVFA’s 7th branch in Italy, following those in Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, Liguria, Lazio and Sardegna.
IVFA President Fausto Co’ said the establishment of the Emilia-Romagna branch is very significant in strengthening friendship and cooperative relations between the two countries. It will help tighten the people in Emilia-Romagna and Vietnam, promote Vietnam’s images, and expand cultural, educational, scientific and economic exchange between the two countries.
Sharing the view, IVFA Secretary Nguyen Maily Anna Maria said the branch will foster ties between the region and Vietnam and serve as a bridge connecting businesses from both sides.
Emilia-Romagna is a large foreign investor in Vietnam in the fields of manufacturing, transport, logistics, information technology, industrial machines and food technology.
Two-way trade turnover between Emilia-Romagna and Vietnam hit nearly US$300 million in 2013, a year-on-year increase of 30%.
In the past two years, the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy and the Emilia-Romagna Chamber of Commerce (ERCC) have held a number of seminars on investment potential in Vietnam.
Last year, a delegation of more than 100 businesspeople from Emilia-Romagna visited Vietnam to seek investment and cooperation opportunities.
Early this year, the ERCC organized a tour for Emilia-Romagna businesses to attend a food fair in Vietnam.
