VietNamNet Bridge – The One Roof Temple, Duoc Temple and Hue Quang Tower Garden, important works of the special national-level monument of Yen Tu in Quang Ninh Province, are being demolished for reconstruction.
They will be replaced by completely new doors and frames. Mr. Nguyen Trung Hai, Head of the Yen Tu monument management board, said this is part of a project to restore the One Roof Pagoda approved by the authorities of Quang Ninh province in 2011.
Hai, Head of the Yen Tu monument management board, explained that when workers cut grass to reinforce the foundation of the old temple, they saw the rock foundation had been dug up by thieves to find antiquities. As the foundation subsided, they had to build a new concrete foundation. The two remaining rock walls were bound together by roots and vines. When workers cut the roots and wires to prepare for the restoration, the walls collapsed.
Some towers inside the Hue Quang Tower Garden, which contain the bones of Zen Buddhists, were also restored.
Nguyen Van Nam, 30, a tourist from Nam Dinh, said: “When I came here, I was surprised seeing a series of works being rebuilt. They are so different! I still prefer the old works!”
