A foreign man with unidentified nationality died after he allegedly jumped off the eighth floor of a 4-star hotel in downtown Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday morning, Vietnamese media reported.>> Russian tourist falls to death at Nha Trang hotel
At 5:00 am today, a staffer of the Asian Ruby Luxury 1 Hotel, located at 26 Thi Sach Street in Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, heard a loud noise coming from the hotel’s alleyway that separates it from another hotel.
The staffer rushed to the path and saw a foreign man lying motionless on the ground, news website VnExpress said, adding that the alley is only 0.5 meter wide, leading to the side door of the hotel.
The man, whose name has not been revealed, was about 35 years old and wore nothing from his waist up. He was among the guests of the hotel on its eighth floor, VnExpress said.
The news site reported the man could have tripped off the floor.
Meanwhile, according to Thanh Nien (Young People) Online, many witnesses said that they saw a half-naked man, wearing only a pair of trousers, jumped from the eighth floor of the hotel.
Examinations showed that the man died of multi-injuries, Thanh Nien Online said.
Some other news websites also said the man might have committed suicide.
Local police examined the scene before carrying the body to a hospital, pending further procedures.
They have also collected testimonies of witnesses and started an investigation into the death.
