Hai Phong city: 95% of children with HIV/AIDS to access social services

Hai Phong city has approved a program helping children affected by HIV/AIDS. So that, 95% of those affected will have access to all social services by 2020.


The services will include healthcare, education, consultancy, nutritional support, physical development, replacement care, entertainment and social policies.


The city also targets that 100% of HIV-infected children support facilities and social organizations relating to HIV-infected children will be provided the knowledge, skills on protection and care for.


In terms of education, 100% of schools in the city will create opportunities and favourable conditions for children affected by HIV/AIDS to go to school.


Beneficiaries of the program include HIV-infected children, children affected by HIV/AIDS and children at high risk of being infected with the disease, such as children using drugs, children of prostitutes and drug users and children living in children support facilities.


The program is estimated to cost VND4.6 billion, of which VND2 billion will come from the city budget and the remainder from central government and sponsors.


According to statistics of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, the port city currently has 4,520 children in special circumstances./.
