PPC's vice chairman Pham Truong Tho paid a site tour to the huge landslide in Ba To district
Quang Ngai provincial People’s Committee (PPC) has just made a report about the situation of damages caused by recent unusual pro-longed heavy rains from 24 to 27 March.
The heavy rains were measured from 400 – 500 mm in mountainous districts and 250 – 300 mm in lowland areas, leading to the high increase of water level in as many as large-scale provincial rivers.
The historical heavy rains left two dead tolls and many traffic systems in mountainous districts broken, causing isolations in many mountainous communes.
The year’s natural disaster destroyed nearly 4,000 hectares of cultivation; swept away 4,3000 poultry and animal; and made damages for 10,760 meters of irrigation system.
The total loss is estimated to be 107 billion dong.
On March 30, PPC urgently sent its directions to districts about supporting policies for people who have been seriously attacked.
It requested local governments to mobilize human resources and machineries to the site to fix broken roads and help residents repair damaged houses.
Especially, the mountainous district of Ba To, where was most attacked, with dozens of landslide positions on many roads, is directed to kick off the fixing before deadline of March 31.
For large-scale of landslides, Ba To district is requested to urgently make a submission to PPC.
Earlier, PPC vice chairman Pham Truong Tho paid a site tour to landslide areas in Ba To district, causing isolation in localities.
According to Mr Le Han Phong, Chairman of Ba To district People’s Committee, as many as large-scale landslides occurred on national road No. 24 and provincial roads in the district.
The route Ba Bich- Ba Nam has 37 positions of landslides with the largest one about 200 meters in length.
