VGP – Viet Nam expects to earn more than US$11 billion from exporting apparels to the US in 2015, up 13% from a year ago.

According to the Viet Nam Industry and Trade Information Center, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the nation’s garment export turnover in the first month of 2015 achieved more than US$1.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.7%.


The US is the largest garment importer of Viet Nam with US$926.69 million, accounting for 48.31% of the total. It was followed by Japan with US$242.03 million, up 5.96% and making up 12.62% of the total and the Republic of Korea with US$174.15 million, up 5.16% and accounting for 9.08% of the whole turnover.


In the Japanese market, Viet Nam took advantage of the position as one of the nations joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations. The garment exports to Japan are forecasted to earn US$2.9 billion by the end of this year, up 9% year on year.


When the Free Trade Agreement between Viet Nam and the EU is signed, the export of garment to the EU is projected to attain US$4 billion in 2015.
