Promoting advantages and enhancing added value of agricultural sector

As informed by Deputy Chief of PPC Office, Mr. Huynh Xuan Son, Standing Vice Chairman of PPC, Mr. Le Van Truc has recently concluded on reviewing steps to build up the Scheme of restructuring Phu Yen Agricultural sector towards raising added value and sustainable development by 2020 and orientation by 2030.


The scheme

Accordingly, the basic content of Scheme “Restructuring Agricultural sector is to review and supplement the development planning of agricultural production in period 2015- 2020 in order to promote advantages of each region or locality, each crop, livestock object to raise added value per area unit. Specifically identifying specialized production areas in associated with processing industry and consumption markets, sustainable and effective development. Clearly identifying key crops and livestock of the province, each locality and specifying specializing, super-specializing areas with high productivity, quality and efficiency (areas specializing in rice;sugar cane, cassava, corn, areas specializing in farming lobsters, white-leg shrimp…) to decide on appropriate investment focus.


For cassava and sugarcane, basically having stabilized plans, mainly focusing on building large fields, organizing production according to value chain. For fisheries, focusing on implementing Decree 67/2014 of the Government on a number of fisheries development policies. Re-planning farming areas to ensure towards sustainable development, raising added value. Building the models of high-tide shrimp farming, intensive farming; Freshwater aquaculture farrming. Rice production must focus on building large fields in associated with value chain production from rice cultivation to consumption of rice products. For varieties and technique, must determine the province’s main varieties of rice, corn, aquaculture, … The technical farming solutions apply mechanization, irrigation technology towards saving water and improve irrigation efficiency, reducing costs.


The scheme implementation must show directive solutions, organizing to implement the scheme. DARD soon completes the scheme to submitt PPC for comment before April 20th, 2015.


Previously, on April 2nd, PPC held meeting on reviewing steps in formulating the scheme “Restructuring Provincial Agricultural Sector towards enhancing added value and sustainable development by 2020 and oriention by 2030. DARD hosted, collaborated with related departments and local authorities in the province completed draft of this proposal.
