PANO – A state-level seminar marking the 40th anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30th), also known as the Great 1975 Spring Victory, was kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on April 3rd.
Present at the event were high-ranking officers of the Vietnam People’s Army and senior officials of the Party and State.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence, spoke highly of the victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign 40 years ago, showing the strength of the determination to reunify the nation and aspiration for peace of the Vietnamese people, becoming the bright symbol of the Vietnamese patriotism and revolutionary heroism.

The seminar was part of activities towards the country’s major anniversary, helping heighten the whole people and soldiers’ awareness of upholding the glorious traditions in the cause of national construction and defence.
Besides, the event continued affirming the important role of the great victory in winning the national independence and freedom as well as drawing valuable lessons to apply to reality.
Presentations delivered by the participants praised the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh – the decisive factor for every victory of Vietnam’s revolution, the determination to liberate the South and reunify the nation, the courageous and creative will of the Vietnamese people and armed forces to fight against invaders, the important role of the Northern homefront and international support, and the stature and historical values of the anti-American resistance war, to name but a few.
