(VOV) -Vietnam treasures its traditional friendship with south Asian countries including the Republic of Maldives, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung told his Maldivian counterpart Abdullah Maseek Mohamed at an April 1 meeting in Hanoi.
Hung highlighted his visit as a contribution to deepening mutual understanding between the two legislative bodies and peoples.
The top legislator welcomed the Maldives delegation’s idea of establishing a South Asian parliamentary union and hoped that the two countries would expand cooperation in marine-based economy and tourism.
He also called for increased cooperation at regional and global forums.
The Maldivian delegation is on a visit to Hanoi for the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132).
