(VOV) – Vietnamese ambassador to Palestine Dao Thanh Chung has presented his credentials to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
At the meeting on May 17, ambassador Chung conveyed best wishes and an invitation to visit Vietnam from President Truong Tan Sang to Mr Mahmoud Abbas.
Vietnamese people always persist in supporting Palestinian people’s just struggle for their national fundamental rights and hope that Palestinians will reinforce solidarity to bring the struggle to a victory towards setting up an independent Palestinian state.
The Vietnam-Palestine relations have been built on the foundation of the 50- year history during which the people from both countries have supported each other in their struggles for national independence and construction.
Vietnam is one the first countries which has recognized Palestine’s statement of independence and a Palestine state and always supported it at international forums, Mr Chung said.
This year, Vietnam will collaborate with the Palestinian side to launch celebratory activities marking the 25th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties with the aim of further strengthening bilateral relations.
The Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also work hand in hand with relevant agencies to organize a Vietnam-Middle East- Africa business forum by later this year.
Ambassador Chung held that Vietnam is willing to share experience, boost cooperation between the two governments, ministries and localities, and support Palestinian people in their struggle for national independence.
The Vietnamese official also pledged his best efforts to consolidate and enhance relations in all fields.
For his part, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas thanked Vietnam for backing his country in winning the status of a non-member observer state in the United Nations in 2012.
He said he is happy to see relations between the two countries growing across a variety of fields, especially in politics, economics and tourism while praising the achievements Vietnam has recorded after 20 years of implementing the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.
Mr Abbas said he will direct Palestinian agencies to boost cooperation with Vietnam, send delegations to the country for the Vietnam-Middle East- Africa business forum and consider signing cooperation documents between the two nations in the time to come.
