(VEN) – According to reports from enterprises trading household electrical goods in Ho Chi Minh City, by early May, sale revenues from air-conditioners, fridges, steam blowers, liquidizers and juicers sharply increased by 50-70 percent compared to the end of March.
Despite the difficulties facing the domestic economy and low sales of other commodities, consumers are still willing to put hands in their pockets for refrigeration goods, even on high value ones due to the hotter weather. Many suppliers and retailers have consistently offered attractive deals, including 50 percent off, free installation or lower maintenance costs. Despite higher demand, electrical refrigeration enterprises said it was unlikely that products would rise in price dramatically. However, the prices of refrigeration goods this year have increased by 10 to 18 percent over the corresponding period last year as they are mostly imported and prices are affected by the exchange rates and other factors like transportation costs.
At present, purchasing old refrigeration goods is an option for low income families but they should pay attention to their electrical consumption efficiency. Second hand goods may be cheaper but when those products break down, they cost more to repair in the long run and are more expensive to find parts for. Therefore, consumers should be aware of buying old, second-hand refrigeration goods. |
To increase purchasing power, producers are constantly applying many advanced technologies such as dual cooling systems in fridges such as the Silver Nano technology which aids efficient deodorization for Samsung fridges; Luminous Ag+ technology; or the Panasonic Super Alleru-buster filter system which can inhibit 99.9 percent of invisible airborne bacteria and mold, helping to keep food fresh. Similar technologies are also applied in LG fridge products such as Bioshield and BioSilver technologies which actively prevent the growth of unwanted bacteria.
In addition, many producers are making innovations, including selling products with new functions to the market like light sensor technology. Samsung’s Inverter Technology in its 220 liter fridges is also very convenient for small families as it helps in making significant savings to electricity bills. The most outstanding air-conditioner brands this year are electricity saving and intelligent products produced by LG, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Daikin and Reetech while fridges and fans produced by Mitsubishi, LG, Panasonic, Daikin, Trendline, Fujiyama and Asia include new features and suitable prices.
Although some overseas brands like Sanyo, Panasonic, LG and Midea have already produced fridges and air-conditioners in Vietnam, the number of imported goods from different brands like Toshiba, Samsung, Electrolux, Daikin and Mitsubishi are still dominant in the market whereas the only domestic air-conditioner brand that has a foothold in the market is Reetech.
To meet the growing demand for household electrical products, many electrical machine shops and supermarkets have recruited more staff and prepared plans to provide prompt deliveries and installations for their customers.
Apart from factors such as quality, prices, models and designs, other features like electricity saving and healthcare technology also affect consumer purchasing decisions./.
