Finland continues to support Vietnam’s ongoing renewal process to maintain economic growth and reduce poverty, said Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Kimmo Lahdevirta on May 17 at the second Vietnam – Finland Friendship Association (VFFA) conference in Hanoi.
Ambassador Lahdevirta affirmed he will do his best to foster friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
The congress adopted a report on the association’s operations during the 2006-2013 term as well as orientations and an action plan for the new term in 2013-2018.
It also elected a 32-member executive committee led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan.
Speaking at the event, General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Nguyen Thi Hoang Van praised the association’s efforts to promote peace, solidarity and people-to-people diplomacy with Finland over the past years.
The VFFA was founded on May 15, 2006, to foster solidarity, friendship and understanding between the Finnish and Vietnamese people and promote Vietnam-Finland co-operation in culture, education, science-technology, economics and trade.
