HA NOI (VNS)— The campaign to study and follow late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example is to be accelerated, a national conference in Ha Noi heard yesterday.

The conference was held to partially sum up the two-year implementation of the Politburo’s Directive No 03-CT/TW on “continued acceleration of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”.

The event was co-chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; Le Hong Anh, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee; and Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity and Education.

The conference agreed that the campaign would focus on studying Uncle Ho’s working style, which was close to the masses, democratic and based on setting an example.

Officials and party members, especially key leaders, were required to set an example for others to follow in implementing the resolution issued at the 4th conference of the Party Central Committee on “a number of urgent issues relating to the building of the Party at present”.

Addressing the one-day conference, Anh said initial results had been recorded in implementing the Politburo instruction.

This had contributed to helping organisations nationwide fulfil their political tasks as well as helped bolster officials, Party members and people’s confidence in the Party and State, Anh said.

In order to successfully implement the instructions, Anh suggested that all concerned people and agencies continue disseminating the instruction and enhance awareness among relevant people and organisations on the meaning, importance, purpose and content of the instruction.

Studying and following former president Ho Chi Minh’s moral example was the Party’s big policy, Anh said, stressing that the work was both the immediate and long-term duty of every official and Party member.

In closing the conference, Dinh The Huynh outlined several key tasks and detailed solutions to improve the implementation of the campaign.

Previously, in an exclusive interview with Vietnam News Agency, Pham Van Linh, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Commission for Communication and Education, said the launching of the campaign was the right decision by the Party as it had enjoyed an active response from the people.

“The focus of the Directive 03 is to turn the President’s thoughts into practical

deeds or activities,” he said. “The final goal we want is to make our

Party clean and strong – the two elements that will help the party successfully

implement the Resolution adopted at the 11th National Party Congress.”

Linh said achievements gained in the past two years could be summarised in six lessons.

First, Party building work had played an important role in the country’s socio-economic development, in maintaining law and order as well as in national security and defence.

Second, learning and following late President Ho’s example had drawn the participation from the whole political system, including Party members and Party cells, administrative organisations and civil social organisations.

Third, during the past two years, the majority of the public servants and party members, particularly senior leaders, had set good examples in the movement to follow Uncle Ho’s morality.

Fourth, the instruction had become an inspiration for Government officials, party members and people to further consolidate their confidence in the Party, State and regime.

Fifth, the implementation of the Instruction 03 had really become a driving force in the work of Party building in each party cell through their regular monthly meeting.

And finally, many people had become outstanding role models for others to follow in the past two years and to exhibit the Vietnamese nation’s fine culture and traditions. — VNS
