(CPV) -Rice export volume reached more than 2.38 million tonnes from the start of the year to May 16, valued at more than USD1.03 billion, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA). With VFA’s target of exporting 7.5 million tonnes in 2013, the volume so far reached 31.5 percent of the plan.
VFA reported that the dry rice price in the Mekong River Delta has fluctuated around VND4,900-5,050 per kilogram, while long-grain dry rice has cost VND5,100-5,250 per kilogram.
The price of type 1 material rice for making five-percent broken rice has been VND6,600-6,700 per kilogram, depending on the locality. Material rice for making 25 percent broken rice has been priced at VND6,400-6,500 per kilogram.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the purchase of 1 million tonnes from the 2012-2013 winter-spring crop for temporary stock in the Mekong Delta region is completed.
During the purchasing period, common dry rice price was around VND5,200-5,400 per kilogram, while dry rice was priced around 5,100-5,300 per kilogram, VND100-200 higher than the set price before the temporary stock time./.
