The rhino horns seized at the airport (Source: VNA) (CPV) – Ho Chi Minh City customs officers at Tan Son Nhat Airport seized over 5kg of rhino horn illegally smuggled in by an air passenger on May 20.
The six sections of rhino horn were hidden in the suitcase of a passenger, D.V.S, born in 1982. He has Vietnamese nationality and arrived at the airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN100 from Europe.
The import of rhino horns is prohibited because the animals are listed as an endangered species, following the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The city Customs Department reported the discovery and seized the goods for further investigation./.
