The “Vietnamese Culinary and Cultural Weeks in Indonesia” kicked off at the Kempinsky hotel in Jakarta on May 17.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Nguyen Xuan Thuy and Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Representative Mission to ASEAN, Vu Dang Dung, attended the opening of the event along with representatives from the diplomatic corps, international organisations and Indonesian enterprises.

Speaking at the opening, Ambassador Thuy underscored the programme’s significance, saying that is has increased the understanding of Vietnam and its people and fostered friendship between Vietnam and Indonesia while promoting the Vietnamese tourism and aviation sectors.

In addition to traditional Vietnamese dishes such as pho, nem (spring rolls) and banh xeo (sizzling pancakes), the programme also features handicrafts and traditional songs and dances performed by Vietnamese students in Indonesia.
